CHICAGO FIRE PIZZA

To many, pizza is simply the food of the gods. In Folsom’s historic district, there are two distinct dining choices which are the basis of that sentiment. You just can’t go wrong with pizza.

Chicago Fire and Pizzeria Classico both do much more than justice to the humble pizza – each in their own unique way.

Chicago Fire offers a tribute to authentic Chicago pizza with its crispy wafer thin crust, sliced in squares. In fact, owner Eric Schnetz admits to utilizing such skills as “corporate espionage” while researching Chicago style pizza – and in the end – ending up with great pizza.

But if you are hooked on deep dish or stuffed pizza, Chicago Fire Pizza has you covered. The restaurant offers a variety of both styles of pizza with many fillings in addition to a full menu of salads, appetizers and desserts. Plus, Chicago Fire Pizza has an extensive wine list featuring many local varieties from Amador and El Dorado counties.

Ask a Pizzeria Classico fan about their favorite entrée and it’s bound to be the garlic chips. There is no comparison. The garlic chips are all about, well, lots and lots of garlic along with melted cheese. And it’s easy to find the pizzeria because the scent of garlic is strong and sends out its siren call.

But that’s not Pizzeria Classico’s only claim to pizza fame. The restaurant has double-stuffed Stromboli, and a notable pesto pizza. Many fans rave about the unique balsamic dressing available on any of its salads. The restaurant offers more than pizza such as Italian spaghetti and Fettuccine Alfredo.
